Meet Shane McCosky

My musical journey started at age six behind a drum kit. Before long, I was picking up the guitar, bass, singing, and screaming. Later on down the road, I began teaching drums—giving aspiring drummers the benefit of my experience. My path into the studio was just as hands-on: a marketing class unexpectedly put producing right in my lap, which instantly hooked me and led me to take professional production classes.

I spent years cutting my teeth in successful bands, headlining the Chicago House of Blues, and playing shows across the Midwest opening for acts like Hollywood Undead and Pop Evil. After years of balancing music with a day job, a pandemic-era pause gave me the perfect opportunity to pivot entirely into full-time production, mixing, and mastering.

Alongside my studio work, education remains a core part of my DNA. Heavy Sticks Productions mentors drummers of all ages and experience levels, guiding them to find their own unique identity behind the kit.
